Breaking Free of Boundaries

Today's N.Y. Times featured an article titled, "Breaking Free of Boundaries", asking the question, "Is gender flux a trend with legs or just a passing fancy?"

My first thought when I read something like this is, "Now what am I going to do?" This new trend is definitely not me, but what kind of a nod can I give it without jumping in with both feet and spending a lot of money?

Ah- The answer comes like manna from heaven... Our really minimal, large round, Asian-inspired, acrylic pieces are about as simple as you can get. Just pull out the jeans, T-shirt and blazer or a bomber jacket,... then dig through the junk and retrieve your old peace sign medallion and you're all set! (or you could buy one our similar pieces.)

Minimalism reigns for Fall

I'm really excited about our new designs for Fall.  They're fresh, new, very minimal, and textured with 38% recyclable resin.  Although closely related, each shape is completely distinctive, designed by us.  You'll find abstract visions of wood, twigs, and  woven fibers.  Let you imagination run wild!

Where's the sun?

Summer is taking it's own sweet time coming to the seashore of Southern California.  Aren't we supposed to be the "sunny" part of "sunny Cal"?  At any rate, I'm running out of patience...I want to wear light and fluffy white dresses, shorts,( well, maybe not short shorts),, and sit on the beach.  I guess I'm going to have to go ahead and do summer without the sun.  Think I'll do some fun reading, more exercise, and I always love to have the grandkids for a special time.  Last year we took in Bowers' permanent exhibition of warriors.(They loved it!)

I'll see if  I can interest them in OCMA's selection of Robert Rauschenberg including collages, prints, and light boxes.  I'm nuts about Rauschenberg!.  OCMA's newest ex is:"My Generation::Young Chinese Artists".

It's an extended look at the new generation of emerging artists in mainland China.  Not to be missed!

Hey Sun!  Be that way!  Don't shine!  I'm doing art!

Blogs and Bergdorfs

I don't know about "Blogs"...

Occasionally I'll read one if it relates to something that sparks my interest. But my professional marketers tell me that it really makes a difference if I have a presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest AND a BLOG.

I've also been told that it's OK to write about experiences....
That it's likely to be of interest to people who share my world of the arts.

 Here goes:
My husband, Terry and I were recently in N.Y. City where I was spellbound with the wildly creative windows at Bergdorf Goodman.

Evidently fashion illustration is finding a new niche as evidenced by Donald Robertson in B.G.'s windows. He used regular cardboard boxes to draw tres expressive faces, some with animal prints and wolfish teeth and eyes, elongated multiples, dogs and stripes.

One night might classify them as a cross between OP and Pop Art. Of course they're dramatically interspersed with the best of B.G.'s summer collections.

So much fun!

In no way would I ever diminish the offerings at MoMa, The Met, and the new Whitney. We just went to Bergdorf Goodman's first.
