Have you seen Rakish's new home?

Rakish is enjoying it's new home at the Heritage Plaza in Old Town Tustin

Some of you may remember one of the Trunk Shows I have done there in the past.  Bill Christiansen, the owner, has excellent taste and will be happy to solve any fashion needs you may have. Rakish has been a premier store in Orange County, California, for over 50 years. They carry fashion forward women's apparel and accessories and a variety of contemporary and cutting edge fashions. They also conveniently employ an on-site seamstress for any necessary alterations.

In addition to their fabulous clothing, Rakish also features my jewelry line, Phyllis Clark Designs, which features contemporary acrylic necklaces as well as semi-precious stones and beads.  If you haven't visited Rakish for a while, check out their new home.

Come and visit their new location and join them for a two day Trunk Show featuring

Ekphrasis: Sacred Stories of the Southwest

Ekphrasis - Sacred Stories of the Southwest
Obliq Art in Phoenix, AZ

The word, ekphrasis, is Greek, and means a literary description or commentary on a visual work of art

I had the pleasure of participating in a collaborative event last week at Obliq Art in Phoenix, Az. The evening was a combination of two art forms: visual arts and poetry.  The poets were paired with an artist and responded to  their art through poetry in the theme of 'Sacred Stories of the Southwest'.

"Las Rocas del Alma Sol"  (Rocks of Sun Soul)
by Phyllis Clark

Amethyst, agate, carnelian, cherry quartz, freshwater pearls, red tiger's eye, soma, crystal spikes, garnet slices and silver.

Madelyn Garner was the poet who wrote about my piece. Her poem as called "The Anthropology of Edges" Madelyn's work has been recognized with various awards in writing. Her current book is Collecting Life: Poets on Objects Known and Imagined, by  Madelyn Garner and Andrea L. Watson.

Ekphrasis: Sacred Stories of the Southwest- curated by Karen S. Cordova.

Obliq Art hosted the event. Obliq is a contemporary urban "pop up" gallery, located in downtown Phoenix at the Arizona Center. They are open for First Friday artist reception and Third Friday showings. Contemporary and traditional fine art, paintings, photography and mixed media.
